Earth Overshoot Day falls on July 28 this year

According to Global Footprint Network’s calculations Earth Overshoot Day 2022 falls on July 28.

This is the day by which we have exhausted nature's biocapacity in a given year - the resources provided by ecosystems and renewed in a full year. So for the rest of the year we are already overusing, exploiting and gradually eating up our own future. We need 1.7 Earths to sustain our current way of life!

There is immense power of possibility in the countless existing solutions that can make us more resilient and help to move the date of Earth Overshoot Day.

This year’s Earth Overshoot Day campaign (PowerOfPossibility - www.overshootday.org) will bring attention to a few of these possible solutions - in five solution categories (planet, cities, energy, population, food) - that can help us get out of overshoot.
