Compete4SECAP (Horizon 2020)

The 3-years-long "Compete4SECAP – Energy management competition for local authorities for uptake and enhance of Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans" project, finaced by Horizon2020, the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, was implemented between October 1, 2017 and September 30, 2020.

The project aimed at providing support to a number of local authorities (LAs) throughout Europe to put their Sustainable Energy Action Plans (SEAP) into action and get them extended with climate actions, so as to upgrade them into Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAP). On the other hand it provided training and awareness raising for the colleagues and officials of the LAs in order to enable them to live in a more energy conscious way as well as to reduce their energy consumption at their work place by the means of changing behaviour.

Key elements of the Compete4SECAP project in Hungary were as follows:

  • co-operating with 4 LAs (Budaörs, Kaposvár, District 4 and District 18 of Budapest);
  • upgrading SEAPs to SECAPs of the LAs;
  • introduction and verification of ISO 50001 Energy Management System to the LAs;
  • energy competition for the staff of the LAs;
  • capacity building and awareness raising for the LAs through trainings and other means.
