ENERGISE: a new European project at GreenDependent

ENERGISE: European Network for Research, Good Practice and Innovation for Sustainable Energy

What is ENERGISE?

ENERGISE is an innovative pan-European research initiative to achieve a greater scientific understanding of the social and cultural influences on energy consumption. Funded under the EU Horizon 2020 programme for three years (2016-2019), ENERGISE develops, tests and assesses options for a bottom-up transformation of energy use in households and communities across Europe.

Energy saving and community building: the second half of the energy saving competition for public buildings has started

19 Hungarian public buildings with over 2000 employees participate in the EU project, called save@work. There was a midterm event on 13 October in Budapest related to project, to which all the Hungarian save@work Energy Teams were invited. The primary aim of the event was to boost the enthusiasm of save@work participants after the summer holidays and beyond the midterm of the competition.

5th International Degrowth Conference in Budapest

The 5th International Degrowth Conference, co-organized by GreenDependent, will take place in Budapest from 30 August to 3 September 2016.

For the first time, and in parallel to the 5th International Degrowth Conference, an open festival “Budapest Degrowth Week” will feature practical workshops, panel sessions and participatory discussions, as well as concerts, artistic performances and interactive tours throughout the city.

All Degrowth Week programmes are open to the public.

ENERGISE - We will launch our new H2020 project soon

Considerable challenges remain today regarding Europe´s transition towards a decarbonised energy system that meets the economic and social needs of its citizens. Rebound effects, that is, a full or partial cancelling-out of efficiency gains over time through increased overall energy use, highlight the centrality of consumption in multi-scalar decarbonisation efforts, urgently requiring attention from scientists and policy makers. Calls also abound for innovative, research-led programmes to enhance the social acceptability of energy transition measures that involve new technologies.

CIMULACT policy brief - No.1

30 European Citizen consultations were organised by the CIMULACT partners and about 1000 cintizens' views were collected into 180 citizens' visions to provide contribution to the objectives of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) of the EC.

Save@work trainings in March


Save@work is a European Union funded (H2020) initiative which helps public buildings reduce their energy consumption and carbon emissions in nine countries. GreenDependent Institute is one of the partners in the international consortium coordinating the energy saving efforts of civil servants. Altogether there are 18 buildings participating in the friendly competition in Hungary with almost 1900 employees from all around the country. The competition officially started on 1 March, so GreenDependent held the Starting Event on 11 February in Budapest, where we invited the Energy Teams – groups of the most enthusiastic employees in each building – and leaders of the participating institutions.

Vision generation and research calls within Horizon2020: the 2nd newsletter of the CIMULACT project is here!

In January 2016, within the framework of the CIMULACT (Citizen and Multi-Actor Consultation on Horizon2020) project the GreenDependent team held the Hungarian Citizen Vision Workshop. Similar workshops using the same consultation methodology were held in 30 European countries by the CIMULACT consortium. EUFORIE: country reports available on household energy efficiency

GreenDependent experts József Szlezák and Edina Vadovics co-authored of the energy efficiency country report on Hungary prepared within the framework of the European EUFORIE (Europen Futures for Energy Efficiency, Horizont2020) project. The report provides a summary of household (and community) energy efficiency through providing information on the level of awareness of households, reviewing relevant legislation, actions as well as various public, private and community initiatives. In relation to the latter the report lists and provides basic information on initiatives by companies, entreprises and nonprofit organizations, and also mentions research projects and alternative energy future scenarios.
