Energy efficient municipal buildings in Hungary

Four Hungarian local authorities (Budaörs, Kaposvár, District 4 and District 18 of Budapest) joined the 3-years-long programme "Compete4SECAP" in 2017. GreenDependent Institute assisted the municipalities in developing their Energy Management System through trainings and professional consultancy. By the end of 2019 the Energy Management Systems had been set up and certified  with ISO 50001.

The energy consumption of all the buildings participating in the C4S project decreased by 4.76% in 2019 as compared to the data of 2018. Moreover, those 11 buildings of local authorities taking part in a one-year-long energy saving competition were able to reduce their overall energy consumption by 8.31% only by means of changing behaviour of energy use.

The project's additional aim is to provide support to these local authorities to put their Sustainable Energy Action Plans (SEAP) into action and get them extended with climate actions, so as to upgrade them into Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAP).
